To add to Anne's summary of the London Marathon this year, it was a great event and I was glad to have one of the club places and experience it for myself.
It turned out to be almost perfect weather on the day, with the toilet queues fractionally shorter than the race distance. The start was very busy, taking about 20 minutes to clear the first 2 miles, but it stretched out a bit after that. After giving up on catching the Kenyans, I settled down into my planned pace until the last few miles when the occasion, or possibly the previous 21 miles, started to get the better of me. In the end I was 69 seconds over my target, but not going to complain about that - Especially with the surprise that welcomed me after the race (pic hopefully attached).

Saturday 12th May 2012 - Loch Leven Half Marathon

scenic shores of Loch Leven with a slightly different finish this year
at the new Loch Leven Community Campus. Start time - 1pm. Entries

We are also organising the Milnathort Dash - a 5.5 mile run for those

round Milnathort - entries will be through Entry Central in May, with
entries on the day if there are still places available.
We look forward to welcoming you in Kinross.

March in 4:21:33 while still making the recovery from a broken foot!
Well done Seonaid. The weather, it has to be said, was nothing like
what we experienced last night - it was unseasonably hot and sunny
(like a British summer?).

On Easter Sunday, Brian Davidson and Theresa Leslie both took part in
the Tom Scott Memotrial 10 mile race in Strathclyde and both achieved
PB's for the distance. Brian finished in 1:07:18 and Theresa in

The previous weekend, at the Edinburgh 5K Parkrun, Brian ran a PB in
18:57, Mary Wood was first lady, finishing in 19:12, followed by
George Gilhooley in 19:18, Susan Lyle in 19:29 and Theresa in 25:31.
Team Dunbar had also had a good run in the Grangemouth Around the
Houses 10K on 25th March with Brian crossing the line in 40:15, Mary
in 40:35, showing great form after being 1st lady (9th overall in
58:55) in her first race, the Tunbridge Wells 13K Trailman a fortnight
before . Susan finished in 40:51 and 2nd in her category at
Grangemouth, with Theresa finishing in 53:56.
The day before, a number of Dunbar runners had taken part in the
Pencaitland 10K and the pre-race zumba session - Andrew Crichton
(winner), Ian Sills, Stuart Hay, Ian Rowland, Anne Hay, Jane Timms,
Sheila Morrison and Keith Mills.
At the 30th Alloa Half Marathon on the previous Sunday, Rhona Anderson

and musing on lost opportunities. Could they too have become Olympians if only they'd eased up on those doughnuts and stuck to their
training regimes? As a boy, Adharanand Finn had the makings of a promising long-distance runner. Named after the Sanskrit word for
Eternal Bliss, he spent his teenage years competing in cross-country races in Northamptonshire. But he let it slip in his twenties and by
his late thirties all that remained was a host of nagging what-ifs.

A couple of known issues (one sorted, one not - yet).
There was a slight mix up with one of the ladies prizes due to "inadvertent gender realignment during the on line registration process". This has now been rectified - but prizes as handed out on the day apply.
Also some runners have noticed a slight discrepancy in their watch times to ours - this is being investigated and will be amended if necessary (however, the all important positions are correct).
We have received some fantastic pictures for Lesley Marshall that can be viewed HERE
We also have some snaps of the event "before and after" that can be viewed HERE.

Wendy Nicolson of Bowe Sports and Leisurewear will be selling various items of sports kit at the event - all runners will receive a money off voucher in their goodie bags at the end of the race to use in the shop, so remember to pay a visit to the shop as well at 67 High Street, Dunbar.
Kate Farrow of East Lothian Sports Therapy will also be at Hallhill offering post-race massages to the runners for a monetary donation - these can be booked at registration. Kate has also donated a gift voucher for a sports massage which will be presented to the first local runner over the line.
Chris Shepherd of myphotofinish will be taking pictures at the event and runners will have the opportunity to purchase pictures later - so best smiles for the camera!
Heather McDonald of Kiss Me Cake will be donating delicious team prizes and spot prizes on the day - well worth running for!
